Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you want to know before we work together — answered honestly.

  • I offer monthly bookkeeping plans (Harbor Basics, Steady Anchor, and Compass Elite), quarterly bookkeeping for lower-volume businesses, cleanup and catch-up projects, financial diagnostic reviews, and accounting system setup for QuickBooks Online and Xero. Add-on services are also available. You can see the full breakdown on the Services page.

  • No — and that's intentional. I focus exclusively on clean, accurate bookkeeping and financial reporting. Your CPA or tax professional handles tax planning and filing. I make sure they have everything they need to do it well — and I'm happy to communicate directly with your tax pro as needed.

  • I'm Gusto certified and have payroll experience, but payroll services are not currently being actively offered. If this is something you need, mention it during your consultation and I can point you in the right direction.

  • Every business reaches a point where DIY bookkeeping costs more than it saves — in time, in stress, and sometimes in CPA bills to fix mistakes. A dedicated bookkeeper means your books stay clean and current all year long, not just at tax time. You get accurate reports to make real decisions, a smoother relationship with your CPA, and the mental bandwidth to focus on the work that actually moves your business forward. For most small business owners, it's not a question of whether they need one — it's a question of when.

  • A virtual bookkeeper gives you professional, dedicated financial support without the overhead of an in-house employee — no payroll taxes, no benefits, no desk space. Everything runs through a secure client portal so your documents are always organized, accessible, and protected. You get the same personalized attention and consistent monthly rhythm as working with someone local, just without the commute. For busy practice owners and service businesses, it's often the most efficient and cost-effective way to get the financial support you actually need.

  • No — and that's an important distinction worth understanding. I'm a dedicated bookkeeper, not a tax professional. My job is to keep your books clean, accurate, and organized all year long so that when tax time comes, your CPA has everything they need to do their job well.

I don't provide tax advice, tax planning, or tax filing services. What I do provide is the financial foundation your CPA builds on — and a direct line of communication with your tax professional when needed.

  • Yes — read-only access to your business bank and credit card accounts is standard for monthly bookkeeping. Most banks offer read-only access options which means I can see what I need to categorize and reconcile accurately without the ability to move or touch any funds. For healthcare clients, I follow HIPAA-aware access protocols — minimum necessary access at all times. Your financial data is delivered through a secure client portal, never through standard email.

  • Final pricing depends on your monthly transaction volume, number of bank and credit card accounts, loans or lines of credit, payment processors (Stripe, Square, PayPal), software integrations (Shopify, Etsy), and overall file complexity. We confirm your exact rate during your consultation.

  • You're in great company. Cleanup and catch-up is a dedicated project service quoted based on your file's condition and how far behind you are. We get you current before starting your monthly plan so you begin with a clean slate.

  • We talk about your business, your current books situation, what you need, and whether AnchorPoint is the right fit. I'll answer your questions honestly — including if I think you need something different than what I offer. No pitch, no pressure.

  • Yes — and it's one of my specialties. I use HIPAA-aware workflows, sign Business Associate Agreements (BAAs), and have 8+ years of experience working in and around healthcare. Your patients' privacy is always part of the equation.

  • It means I apply minimum necessary access principles to your financial systems, use secure portal delivery for all documents, and never transmit protected health information through standard unsecured email. It means your compliance is considered at every step — including your accounting system.

  • Yes. Business Associate Agreements are standard for all healthcare and medical-adjacent clients. Just mention it during your consultation and we'll have it in place before we start.

  • Absolutely — and I love it. Many of my healthcare clients involve their office manager in the bookkeeping process. I'm comfortable communicating with your team, setting up workflows that work for everyone, and being the financial point of contact so your office manager can focus on what she does best.

  • I primarily work in QuickBooks Online and Xero. I also have experience with QuickBooks Desktop and Gusto. If you're not sure which platform is right for you I can help you figure that out during your consultation.

  • Everything goes through your secure client portal — no emailing sensitive financial documents back and forth. You'll receive a portal login during onboarding, and all monthly deliverables will be waiting there for you.

  • Primarily through your secure portal and email. Steady Anchor and Compass Elite plans include a monthly video call. I respond to all messages within 1-2 business days during business hours (Mon–Fri, 10AM–5PM PST).

  • Yes — and I encourage it. I keep your books CPA-friendly and communicate directly with your tax professional as needed. A strong bookkeeper-CPA relationship makes tax season dramatically smoother for everyone.

  • I'm based in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho and work with clients entirely virtually nationwide. Everything runs through a secure client portal so location is never a barrier.

  • My primary specialties are healthcare practices (therapists, counselors, wellness providers, small clinics, and medical-adjacent businesses) and service-based businesses (photographers, consultants, coaches, CMOs, stylists). I also work with ecommerce businesses (Shopify/Etsy), tradess/construction, and content creators.

  • Security is taken seriously here. All documents and reports are delivered through a secure client portal — no sensitive financial information is sent through standard email unless it is encrypted using bank-level encryption. For healthcare and medical-adjacent clients, I use HIPAA-aware workflows and apply minimum necessary access principles to your accounts. Business Associate Agreements (BAAs) are available and standard for all medical clients. Your data is never shared with third parties beyond what's required to provide your bookkeeping services.

  • Completely — and this is important. I handle the bookkeeping so you don't have to, but you always maintain full ownership and visibility of your finances. You'll receive clear monthly reports, plain-English insights, and direct access to your books through your secure portal anytime you want them. My job is to make your financial picture clearer, not to take it out of your hands. Every payment, every decision, every approval stays with you.
